by James Sherlock Trio

Domestic Arts is a diverse collection of standards and originals from the talented James Sherlock Trio.

Domestic Arts , Sherlock’s third release on Jazzhead, includes renditions by esteemed composers Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Cole Porter, Antonio Carlos Jobim and The Stranglers! The Trio format provides Sherlock the best aspect for the guitar and what his music has to say. Here the Trio sound and technique is thrilling with outstanding melody and swinging rhythm.

The tracks were directly recorded onto analogue tape to capture the true live sound of the band; engineered by Chris Vallejo at Linear Studios in Sydney.

As one of the country’s most exciting and inventive jazz guitar players and winner of the Ike Isaacs International Jazz Guitar Award, Sherlock has worked with a variety of bands and soloists, including Barney McAll, Scott Tinkler, James Morrison, Dale Barlow, Mike Nock, Sheila Jordan, Bernie McGann, Joe Chindamo, Allan Browne and Doug de Vries, as well as his ongoing duet project with vocalist Kristen Berardi.

Collaborating on this project are longstanding music allies Tim Firth on drums and Brendan Clarke on bass.
