by Tully

Make no mistake, Tully are legends of the Australian Psych-Prog scene of the late 60s/early 70s! Formed in 1968, they quickly became one of the best live bands of their era - many still talk about how great their shows were. Initially, they were known for several rock festival appearances and extremely long improvisational pieces. However, by the time they recorded their first album, they were writing shorter, more succinct tunes while still keeping the psychedelic touches of the period. This version of the band featured Terry Wilson on vocals who had a multi-octave range which gave the songs an epic scope. The writing featured major contributions from other band members Robert Taylor, Michael Carlos and in particular Richard Lockwood. The latter was becoming heavily influenced by Indian spiritual leader Meher Baba and this had a great effect on songs such as You Realize You Realize, Love's White Dove and The Paradise Of Perfect Silence. Following this album, there were several lineup changes which changed Tully's sound considerably on their last two albums but this album certainly captures a moment in time and it's great that it's finally been reissued.
