If you’ve been living under a rock or just plain forgot, here is your reminder that the Reclink Community Cup is back again for another year of top notch quality footy this Sunday between the Rockdogs and the Megahertz. Even Sydney’s jumped on board with their own two teams the Western Walers and Sydney Sailors so if you’re up in Sydney for whatever reason this weekend then go down and have a gander. To say the least, the day is awesome; it’s a family friendly event with loads of activities and stalls for those odd people who don’t like footy AND its super cheap with adult entry only 15 bucks and kids under 16 will set you back a fiver. Next Thursday the 25th of June, Wild at Heart presents Strumarama, a night of live music, comedy, poetry and performance artists. Lock this one in your diary folks as it’s just a gold coin entry for a great night out at The Prince Public Bar in St. Kilda. The night also features the launch of songs in motion; 6 new music clips from Port Phillip locals showcasing their film clips for the very first time! From the 20th of June to the 10th of July, Gasworks will be offering a diverse range of kid’s holiday activities for children aged 4 to 14. There’s a range of energetic artists and performers who specialise in working with kids, to creative and interactive workshops. This Saturday the 20th of June at 11am and again at 1pm is the world-premiere of Stripey; an adventure based on a simple story adapted for the stage in the well-known, highly skilled and foot-tapping style associated with other Garry Ginivan Attractions, such as Possum Magic and Wombat Stew. At this year’s Belgrave lantern festival this Saturday, from 5:30 in the Hayes Car Park there will be lanterns galore all the way down the main street. The Belgrave community has been committed to ensuring that anybody and everybody feels welcome to join in on the night which is a 100% free. There will be a number of stages set up along the parade route, showcasing local musicians and an array of activities on offer from 4pm. Learn about Aboriginal culture this weekend through the Koorie Heritage Trust Lunchtime Program. The three day event which kicks off today showcases various demonstrations and musicians running throughout the afternoon. Head down to Fed Square for the free event which starts at 12.30pm daily; today there’ll be a tools and weapons demonstration followed by acoustic music from Gavin Somers, Friday will see demonstrations on the art of creating traditional implements from the land before Maylene Slater performs indie pop and roots tunes. Last day Saturday will see a basket weaving master class and singer/songwriter Corey Theatre singing in the nearly lost Gunditjamara language.

One of Melbourne's major winter arts events, the Melbourne Cabaret Festival kicks off today. Run by not-for-profit Melbourne Cabaret Limited. This year there’s 30 new shows never before seen in Melbourne, starring great local talent. Aside from the city and South Yarra, there are two new venues in St Kilda Collingwood so you’re bound to find a solid show close to home.
