Melbourne’s music community unite to lend a hand to local music treasure Ross Hannaford who is currently battling serious health issues, putting together a night of great music to raise much needed funds for him. The great event will be held at Memo Hall on the Saturday the 18th of July, kicking off at 7.30pm. Acts include Ross Wilson, Linda Bull, Black Sorrows and so many more with the night hosted by Rockwiz’s own Brian Nankervis. To buy tickets and support a legend, head to www.memomusichall.com.au . Head down to NGV Australia this Sunday the 5th of July for the first session of ‘Unplugged Live’ featuring Thelma Plum. Listen and enjoy short live music sets each Sunday for the next month with artist conversations; the event is hosted by Jae Laffer of The Panics and offers a range of local acts held in the intimate setting of NGV’s exhibition spaces. In the first session of 2015 Thelma Plum joins Jae to chat to artist Jonathon Jones and celebrate NAIDOC week. The Arts House is celebrating its 10th birthday with a huge ‘Future Future’ bash at the North Melbourne Town Hall this Friday the 3rd of July. Starting at 7.30pm on, the Arts House team is turning the North Melbourne Town Hall into a creative playground of the future. There’ll be a showcase of live music, light, sound and short performances including live, visual and performance art. Artists include Forces, Evelyn Morris (Pikelet), Mark Atkins, Paddy Mann (Grand Salvo), and Alisdair Macindoe, James Batchelor, Nat Grant and more. The night is a free event but it turns out bookings are a thing so head to www.artshouse.com.au to secure a spot!

As of this Sunday, celebrate NAIDOC Week at the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre at the Melbourne Museum in Carlton, between 10am to 5pm. Experience a vibrant living Koorie culture through hip hop workshops, stunning exhibitions, Milarri Garden tours, family activities and more. It’s a packed full week of activities and exhibitions celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
