In the next edition of PBS' monthly film series, 5ft High & Rising and Acid Country present a free screening of Heartworn Highways.

Heartworn Highways, the fabled, previously hard-to-find 1975 film, intimately explores the roots of outlaw country music, offering a rare insight into the lives of the musicians who set the bar for those who came after. The film offers an emotional landscape driven by music and joins these artists in their lives at home, in the studio and on stage, authentically depicting a community rarely entered by outsiders. Featuring performances by legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, David Allan Coe, Steve Young, Rodney Crowell, Gamble Rogers, Steve Earle, Barefoot Jerry and the Charlie Daniels Band.

Myles O'Neill Shaw and David Heard will kick off the evening at 7pm, spinning some tunes for you to enjoy over some food or a few brews, followed by an introduction at 8:15pm and the feature screening starting at 8:30pm. The Spotted Mallard makes great food, and opens from 4pm, so why not get down early for some dinner and a few drinks in the lead-up?

The screening is FREE entry for all, and PBS members receive a free pot of Thunder Road beer or glass of Cake wine on entry! Members also receive a 10% discount on food and drinks all night, so don't forget your membership card.

Bookings and table reservations are essential. Click here to head to Moshtix and secure your tickets, and also email samanda@spottedmallard.com to reserve a table.
