Love live music, but hate the demonization of asylum seekers? On May 15, one of Australia's finest folk-rock bands The Stillsons, together with Les Thomas and Muckle Pup will be turning on an afternoon of live music at The Wesley Anne in Northcote, to raise funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). The ASRC provide advocacy, aid and health organization promoting and protecting the human rights of asylum seekers, all without federal funding.

The event title refers to Woody Guthrie's favorite slogan "This guitar kills fascists" – often seen emblazoned on his guitars.

"Woody Guthrie would have written dozens of songs about asylum seekers if he lived in present-day Australia", say Justin Bernasconi of The Stillsons.

Justin Bernasconi himself is the author of the very well-received song Charity and Ghosts about English 'orphans' or 'child migrants' who were used to populate Australia with "white British stock' up until 1967.

"Over the last ten years, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre haven't just played an important role, for many it's been essential. Were calling for a massive turn out to support the organization that supports refugees," he says. Doors open at 4pm. All proceeds from this event will go to the ASRC.
