Tune in to hear the live recording of Love, As We Know It, a work by Young Elder Of Jazz recipient, Brenton Foster. The work features some of Melbourne’s finest musicians in a collaboration with US poet Christopher Poindexter. Love, As We Know it will be broadcast on Jazz on Saturday

“I am honoured and humbled to become part of an incredible heritage established through the PBS Young Elder Of Jazz Commission. Thank you so much to PBS, Melbourne International Jazz Festival and Mark Newman for giving me this opportunity. I'm inspired to explore new collaborations between poetry and jazz with my song-cycle, ‘Love, As We Know It’. I look forward to sharing it with audiences at the 2018 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.” Brenton Foster

Love, As We Know It was performed by Brenton Foster together with Stephen Magnusson, Jordan Tarento, Aaron McCoullough and Gideon Brazil, at The Jazzlab, Brunswick on Friday June 1 at 9pm as part of the 2018 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Pianist and composer Brenton Foster is the winner of the 2018 PBS Young Elder of Jazz Commission. This is an annual PBS initiative promoting innovation and excellence in jazz composition.
