Setting the benchmark for Australian Jazz singers since the late 70s, Vince Jones is that rare genre-defying artist who creates music without borders. Calling in from NSW Vince gives listeners the details about his performances at the Jazzlab September 16 - 17.

Jazz bassist and bandleader of TCP Youth Band, Toshi Clinch drops in to the Ports of Paradise to talk about the TCP Youth Band and their upcoming performance of Stan Kenton's landmark Cuban Fire suite (originally recorded in 1956) on September 15 & 16 at Melbourne Polytechnic Fairfield Campus.

Unplugged in St Kilda is a podcast created and presented by Sally Moore that celebrates and documents St Kilda's fantastic music scene of the 1970s - 1990s. Each episode features a musician who lived and gigged there during that period. Sally drops in to the studio to talk about creating an audible history of St Kilda's music scene and play tunes from recent guests.

Formed in 2010 by James Tom and Dylan Lieberman, Krakatau is a band with an interest in the freeform side of late '60s/early '70s psychedelic music. Over the years, their influences shifted in direction to that of long form jazz composition, minimal music, and progressive left field sounds. They're putting on an evening of music in the Estonian House Theatre, on September 17th. James drops in on Eternal Rhythm to tell Shio about this show.

Giving the World Away, the sophomore album from Hatchie, is the truest introduction to the songwriter/bassist at the helm of the project, Harriette Pilbeam. Although her sound arrived fully-formed, a dazzling dream-pop and shoegaze tangle, it’s here that Pilbeam fully distills the core of herself into a record. She joins Milo on The Breakfast Spread to chat about the album.

Featuring some of the absolute cream of Melbourne's Funk, Soul, Jazz, Blues and Rock n Roll singers and musicians, Brian El Dorado and The Tuesday People play two sets at Shotkickers on September 15th for the Tectonic single/vinyl launch party. Over the last few years Kevin Borich has kept himself busy writing an autobiography and recording a duets album. To celebrate his 60th year in the music business and his 75th trip around the sun the iconic guitarist has remastered and compiled all of his favourite tracks spanning 1973 to 1981 onto a 3 CD boxset. K-BOX is about a 30-something year old Korean adoptee named Lucy who hasn’t been home in a while. She’s quit her job, dumped her boyfriend, and turned up on her adoptive parents’ doorstep needing somewhere to crash. Lucy and her parents haven’t always seen eye to eye on everything, but when a K-Pop star mysteriously wanders into their lives and starts asking questions about her Korean roots, new fault lines appear in the family unit. UK multi-instrumentalist and producer Emma-Jean Thackray's debut album, Yellow, is an impressive tribute to 70s jazz fusion and P-funk that showcases the talents of some of the UK-jazz scene's most noteworthy members. We loved it so much that we ran it as a PBS Feature Album when it came out last year.
