by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
There’s a thud. A reverberated crunch. And then, a sudden stifling wall of primal noise and that could probably only hail the return of one seven headed beast. After chalking up appearances at Meredith, the Big Day Out, mental hospitals and turning front rows of venues around the country into chasms of sweat and spilt lager, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard are back with their much anticipated debut record, 12 Bar Bruise.
Melbourne producer and Rocket Science guitarist Paul Maybury, who previously recorded Gizzard’s Willoughby’s Beach EP, was summoned once again to work with the band on the album. The band spent the tail end of March recording the album on weekends between Anglesea and Maybury’s warehouse studio in Fairfield, Melbourne.
12 Bar Bruise; call it a psych-mutant, call it collective chaos, one thing is for sure; King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard are back in fine form. And if you can count that as raining spit, then the forecast is good.
