12FU started by three veteran Melbourne punkers with the intention to make an unapologetic return to the New York sound of the late 70s. We wanted to get back to our roots, to the music that first made an impression on us. Turns out that no-one else was doing that style of punk, so we were able to create a unique band, that had a focus and direction, as long as we keep it simple and retarded, and a bit of tongue in cheek.
12FU are a St.Kilda band born and bred, and are not ashamed to write songs about this town that we love. Songs about runaways who are attracted to St Kilda's vibrant diversity. Songs about the characters living in boarding houses, songs about inner city living, much like the Ramones. We don't sing about politics or anything depressing. We're here to rock out and make people happy. 1, 2, 3, 4!
