by Dr. Dog
After listening to this album, Dr. Dog clearly falls into the category “why haven’t I gotten into this band before??” This is their 8th album and is very much my sort of music. They remind me a lot of Wilco who have also fallen into that category in the past! Dr. Dog is from Pennsylvania. They formed in 1999 and started out in a more lo-fi, Pavement-esque frame of mind before getting a cleaner and more mellow sound on albums like 2007’s We All Belong and 2008’s Fate. B-Room fits more into the latter sound but still sounds organic and fresh and certainly catchy. After hearing the opening verse of The Truth, I have not been able to get it out of my head! That catchiness continues into Broken Heart and Distant Light. The album also gets a little country and melancholy on Too Week To Ramble but comes back rockin’ with the retrospective Rock & Roll. All in all, a wonderful and rootsy rock/pop that shouldn't disappoint fans of that style.
