Malian singer/songwriter/guitarist Rokia Traoré has been releasing albums since 1998 but for her latest album 'Beautiful Africa', she has changed styles quite radically. Now equppied with a Gretsch guitar, a blues influence has transformed this album from a traditional 'World' sounding record. From the hypnotic and rockin' Kouma to the more mellow but groovy sounds of Ka Moun Kè and the catchy pop of the title track, this is an extrmely strong album with every tune being a winner. If you're looking for an album as an introduction to African music, this could be the one. Definitely worth exploring!!
