by Cosmic Psychos
The Cosmic Psychos need no introduction to PBS listeners. One of Australia’s longest running and most influential punk rock bands, the Psychos have been heard on 106.7 almost since they first began playing under that name in the early 1980s.
At the recent Melbourne International Film Festival a new documentary about the Cosmic Psychos from Matt Weston was premiered. The film is called ‘Blokes You Can Trust’ – the title of their 1991 album, produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana, Garbage etc). To celebrate the release of the film, and to acknowledge the significance of this trio in the history of punk and pub rock in Australia, PBS is featuring the album ‘Blokes You Can Trust’ this week. The line-up for this classic album features the late Robbie Watts on guitar, Bill Walsh on drums and founding member Ross Knight on bass and vocals.
After nearly 30 years the band are still playing and have just been announced on the line-up for the 2014 Big Day Out.
From August 12 the film will be screening at the Cinema Nova – check the cinema’s website for details.
