Some Jerks, from Qld, have produced an awesome little 11 track LP called "Buddy Rich Made Me Cry" on the top label Turkeyneck Records. Have a bit of a sixties feel, mashed in with a bit of Blondie. The highlight is the essential mix of catchy songs & fantastic vocals by lead singer Vicki (formerly of Aampirellas). One little number called "Penny for your Heart" has relentlessly gone around my brain for weeks on end. This song is not fast, not wild, just a good catchy pop song. Sometimes looking for style, bands tend to forget they still have to write good songs to become a good rock/punk/metal band. This band knows all the tricks & do them well. And, even though they have obvious influences from other bands, they don't sound like them! It's already in the mix for one of my favourite releases of this year!
