A few weeks ago, beloved Melbourne folk duo Charm of Finches arrived in the UK for an extensive headline tour, which takes them beyond Great Britain to other parts of Europe throughout June and July. To coincide with this tour, the duo released a spine-tingling rendition of Joni Mitchell's song ‘River’; a tribute to a great classic that’s adorned with the hymnal vocal harmonies and spacious arrangements we’ve come to expect from sisters Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes.
Late last year, Charm of Finches recorded a beautiful performance at Channel 31 that then aired in April of this year on the MUUZOstream program. Like the duo’s three studio albums, this recording demonstrates their talents as one of Australia’s premier exponents of baroque folk-noir.
PBS is delighted to share this recording with you as part of our Studio 5 series on June 6. Charm of Finches will have just played a show in Sweden, and will be about to play one in Norway, but they will be with you in spirit and on your radio when you tune in to Homebrew from 3pm on Monday June 6 to hear this entire live session, courtesy of MUUZOstream.
Studio 5 Live is proudly presented by our mates at Mountain Goat.
