by Dialectrix
Sydney MC Dialectrix is back with his third lp for the Obese label, 'The Cold Light Of Day', and it's a banger. All production on this album is handled by Melbourne's Plutonic Lab, and it's the beats that nearly steal the show on this album. Plutonic is on point on this album, making this album stand out among other other oz hip hop releases. The production on this album incorporates live instrumentation as well as electronic elements, giving the whole album an energetic feel. All cuts are provided by DJ 2Buck.
Lyrically, Dialectrix is starting to push the boundries of what is expected of Australian MCs, showing that the local product can stand on it's own compared to whats being released overseas. Topics range from dealing with violence and alcholism in 'Fire in the Blood', travelling around the country in 'Take Flight', as well as touching on politics, as his own place in the world. The album includes a number of features including Momo (Diafrix), P.Smurf (Big Village), Def Wish and Chip fu. Even the DJ gets a verse on the track 'Style'.
All in all a great new Oz hip hop release, continuing the trend of local scene getting better and better. Big double thumbs up to Pluto for his gold class beats. Check it out!
