Cosmic Psychos "Cum the Raw Prawn" on Desperate Records
Aussie rock legends The Cosmic Psychos release their first album in 4 years "Cum the Raw Prawn" with the very Aussie term as its title. The Psychos are without doubt one of the most Australian of all bands & one of the creators of grunge. Their music is very basic, and down to the bare bones in every respect. If you're looking for lovely poetry, complex instrumentation, sweet angelic singing, political correctness, you will not find it here! But hey, we don't always need that do we? We need music we can relate to, drink to, enjoy. With Knighty's beautiful fuzz-bass; Mad Maccas expert guitar licks & Deanos big drum sounds, & dirty Australian accented vocals from the dulcet tones of all three there is no better way of making rock n roll for the consummation of beer!
This is debut recording with Mad Macca's involvement. His ROOTS lie in that awesome Queensland band The Onyas & and the addition of his own growling guitar sound, Aussie vocals & beer gut action on this LP really adds to the Psychos persona (sorry that's a big word!). The lyrics cover all kinds of topics, some rarely covered before like checking your Bum for Grubs, and some more often covered topics like drinking beer! Yes, the lyrics are all rude & crude, but it's all a lot of fun & I'm sure it would cum out well live! Whilst I guess there is no new ground broken here, it's not the record which will change our lives, I don't think there is any attempt to do this here. It's straight down the line rock & roll, done in the distinctive Psychos style & I don't think that Psycho rock fans would accept anything different.

Jamie XX In Colour (Featured on The Breakfast Spread)
If you want to hear what six years of gathering material, mixing it, rolling it all together with a little bit of the past to make something new and exciting then Jamie xx’s debut album In Colour is for you. Somehow he’s created an all-encompassing musical experience; it feels like nothing is left out. For those not familiar with Jamie xx, he’s spent the best part of a decade as the quiet background member of British indie pop group The xx, and also found a different place in the public eye after releasing a remix version of Gil Scott Heron’s ‘I’m New Here.’ It’s hard to describe what In Colour sounds like, but it triggers something of an instrumental collage, which makes the title seem rather apt. The use of samples is sublime, with detailed liner notes explaining each choice, which represents just how much time and care has gone into this album without making it sound overproduced and perfect. Prepare to hear this album around town!
