Mon 5 Feb 2018 to Fri 9 Feb 2018

PBS 106.7FM is sending out the invites for another week-long party to celebrate live music. Each year as Melbourne summer reaches a feverish pitch, we open the station to the public for a week of jam-packed tunes plus generally good times and we want you to join us.

We’re thrilled to announce our annual live-to-air extravaganza Drive Live – five afternoons in a row of live music taking over the airwaves during our Drive programs in early February.

From Monday February 5th to Friday 9th from 5pm until 7pm, catch some of your favourite Melbourne artists performing live at our Collingwood studios. As usual the line-up speaks for itself.

Following the release of her critically acclaimed second record, Party, Aldous Harding joins the line-up off the back of a huge year of international touring. Melbourne’s super band Tropical Fuck Storm, formed by The Drones’ Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin, bring their energetic live performance to the station, with award winning Australian music producer, artist and performer Plutonic Lab set to deliver an electric performance.

Post-punk trio, Cable Ties, whose self-titled LP was named in our top 10 records of 2017 list join us, along with Rolling Blackouts CF before they jet off for some major international gigs, not to mention the vocal powerhouse with fierce rhymes and bold eclectic style to match - Kaiit.

If that’s not enough: dynamic duo Bahdoesa enter the mix with their energetic and visually iconic live performances; we welcome the lush and luxurious pop sounds of Totally Mild; the snarling, angular and loud pointy punk of Bench Press, and the beautiful and soul swimming emotional punk of Two Steps on the Water.

Rounding out the line-up is Ubik whose unique and straightforward punk sound has coined the phrase ‘brat-beat’; Jaala brings their distinctly textured and erratic style; we’ll hear the catchy and contagious tunes of recently reincarnated MOD CON (previously Palm Springs); the 70s inspired free jazz and minimalism of guitar and drum duo Maria Moles and Adam Halliwell, and the nostalgia eclectic twist of Biscotti's cinematic soundtrack.

Music lovers will be welcomed to PBS HQ to catch the performances live and in person. PBS members get a free Mountain Goat beer on arrival and everyone gets a fair whack of radio to watch.

To get your name on the door, send an email to events@pbsfm.org.au with the subject line: NIGHT (Monday, Tuesday etc) YOUR NAME, and MEMBER NUMBER (if applicable). Drive Live is free and open to everyone but capacity is limited, so get on to it now.
