From May 18 - July 31 , Multicultural Arts Victoria will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Emerge Festival, looking retrospectively at the abundance of cultural wealth, music, dance, cross-cultural exchange & understanding that has emerged and been shared over the last decade.
Emerge Festival will captivate Melbourne throughout the winter months of May-July with a colourful series of performances and unique cultural experiences encompassing music, dance, visual arts, exotic foods, ancient crafts and ceremonies.
The Festival will be launched with Emerge in the West, a massive one-day cultural celebration in Footscray on May 18 and will spread throughout metro Melbourne and beyond over 10 exciting weeks, featuring the signature Emerge Main Event, at Fitzroy Town Hall on June 16.
African dance grooves, Sudanese reggae, Ethiopian jazz, Azmari banter, Somali pop, traditional Burundian drums, West African dance & Cape Verdean Reggae will feature on the Main Stage at Emerge in the West, while Emerge in Fitzroy will offer a feast of engaging workshops, sounds from East Arnham Land to Afghanistan & a crafty artisans marketplace.
