by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

Is it a soundtrack? Is it a film-score? Is it an audio book? It is in fact the new album from Melbourne’s King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Based around text written and narrated by iconic Australian singer Broderick Smith, “Eyes Like the Sky” takes a narrative journey over ten tracks of distorted spaghetti western score and tales of Apaches, injustice and retribution. The subject matter allows KGATLW to bring to the fore the gritty blues that have often been heard underpinning previous recordings and live sets in particular.

“Eyes Like the Sky” is like nothing else released this year – or probably this decade. If Morricone grew up playing gigs at the Tote in Collingwood he might make an album like “Eyes Like the Sky”.
