Hugo Race is a prolific performer, musician, writer and producer. Hugo founded the seminal Australian cult band The Wreckery in 1985, which recently reunited (2009) for the release of the retrospective ‘Past Imperfect’. A key element in Melbourne’s early 80s post-punk scene, Hugo was first introduced to the international stage as a founding member of Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds.
Hugo Race Fatalists are launching their latest album offering “We Never Had Control” at The Workers Club in Melbourne on Friday September 20, 2013. Special guests are instrumental band “Sacri Cuori” all the way from Italy.
Fresh from a widely acclaimed and extensive concert tour of Europe with his Italian-based 'Fatalists' project, Hugo Race has brought the tour to Australia which will see Fatalists embark on a tour across the countryside in support of their latest album offering ‘We Never Had Control’, officially launching the album at The Workers Club in Melbourne on Friday September 20, 2013. Joining the tour party will be special international guests Sacri Couri – the self described ‘romantic villains’ who play ‘mostly instrumental music with a cinematic feel’. Apart from being amazing live, they have incredibly impressive credentials with appearances on their last album from Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian, Mark Lanegan), Marc Ribot (Tom Waits) as well as members from Calexico and Los Lobos.
With sentiments such as these, and together with comparisons to Mark Lanegan and Leonard Cohen, the magical enigma that is Hugo Race will ensure this is a live performance not to be missed.
