Heartical Hi Powa Soundsystem are taking over The Gasometer Hotel for our monthly ska, rocksteady, early reggae shakedown.
Jamaica Jump-Up is hitting The Gasometer Hotel on Saturday, August 20 – with a SOUNDSYSTEM SPECIAL bringing the bass and treble to the dancefloor once again.
Inspired by ska heavyweights in the UK and drawing on the rich history of Jamaica’s soundsystem culture, Jamaica Jump-Up’s own Stryka D and the Heartical Hi Powa crew will be hauling their purpose built soundsystem into the Gas for a massive party. The crew, comprising some of Melbourne’s most respected reggae selectors, will deliver an epic set of deeply infectious selections from their extensive record collections through their custom designed speaker boxes and equipment. Get ready for a night of foundation shaking ska, rocksteady and reggae revival.
Residents Jesse I (Babylon Burning) and Mohair Slim (Blue Juice) will also be bringing their best vinyl selections for the night, along with special guest DJ Systa BB (Triple R’s The Good The Dub and The Global) and both Queen Jigzie and Kilmarnock Steve bringing the party vibes with MC duties all night long!
Door sales only – 9pm-3am! Get down to the Gas early, as this will be heatin’ up from the get go. Plus, it’s Stryka D’s last outing for a while as he’s leaving us to move north so let’s give him a party to remember.
