JamGrass Music Festival this aint just a bluegrass festival.
Bluegrass and progressive bluegrass, or sometimes called ‘new-grass’, has been experiencing a huge resurgence overseas, and it’s contagious! Australian musicians are picking up more mandolins, banjos and fiddles than ever before resulting in all kinds of new bluegrass and bluegrass influenced music.
At Jambands Australia, this didn’t go unnoticed and in 2011 the first JamGrass Music Festival was launched. It was a small idea with a big purpose, promoting bluegrass and related music and bands that jam. The response from the music community, both musicians and fans, has been phenomenal. Based on this support and encouragement the JamGrass Music Festival is expanding to a 2-night, 2-stage format at the Thornbury Theatre’s Velvet Room. We’ll have more of everything this year and you won’t want to miss it. We’ve booked 17 carefully selected bands from Australia as well as The New Worlds from the US. There will also be a few special guests who will join in with various bands through the festival. Some artists are well-established, some just emerging and some on the cusp of being the next big thing. But what they all have is a special magic that’ll make’em shine on the JamGrass Stage.
So whether you were part of JamGrass 2011 or you’ve just heard about it, come join the festivities. Bring your good vibes and your dancing shoes cause we’re going to throw down the biggest finger pickin’, foot stompin’, booty shakin’, whisky drinkin’ bluegrass party that Melbourne has ever seen.
