$6 tickets, $1 popcorn?! Blink and you might find yourself in 1987, as art-house cinema was exploding and Melbourne's iconic Kino Cinema, the first architect-designed, central city art-house twin cinema in Australia, opened for business and transformed the city’s film culture. To celebrate the thirty year anniversary of this iconic cinema, movie tickets will be available across the birthday weekend at 1987 prices, alongside classic handmade choc-tops ($3) and popcorn ($1), plus free vintage movie posters from the archives. Kino will be screening several of the most successful films of its 30 year history (stay tuned for more details!!!) alongside the latest 2017 releases. Three decades on, the sleek cinema in the ‘Paris End’ of Collins St with its chic underground entrance and impressive program of quality local and international cinema continues to charm ever-new generations of film lovers.
The Kino is still Melbourne’s premiere metropolitan cinema. Join the cinema across the weekend of June 23-25 2017 as Melbourne celebrates thirty wonderful years of the Kino.
