This September, PBS, Crown Ruler and Animals Dancing are beyond excited to join forces and present a very special & rare combination of live performances from esoteric greats Larry Heard, Gigi Masin & Gaussian Curve in the historic setting of the Melbourne Town Hall.
Larry Heard is one of house music’s most influential and creative producers.
Beginning with his Mr Fingers and Fingers Inc. projects and collaborations, Heard has inspired decades of producers from his first, to most recent works on labels like Trax, Gherkin, DJ International, Black Market, Housetime and his own Alleviated Records label, never staying out of print or style.
Be it his raw jacking Disco-D drum tracks, his Gherkin Jerks Acid, The It’s street poetry, or the textural and musically rich mid tempo house on any of his Mr Fingers albums, Heard has amassed a back catalogue of classics that few other house producers can contest.
After a 12 year hiatus from performing, this show will be his first ever in Australia and the second live performance of his just announced return to the stage, making it all the more exciting.
Gigi Masin has been part of the music scene since the early 70’s. His first solo album Wind (a highly treasured ambient work) was privately released in 1986 and has since become a coveted rarity for record collectors and recently reissued along with the beautiful Talk To the Sea compilation. Alongside Amsterdam’s Young Marco and the UK’s Jonny Nash, Masin recorded a stunningly beautiful album (surprisingly in just one day) and this was later released under the banner of Gaussian Curve on the highly respected label, Music from Memory.
Providing aural assistance to this landmark performance is Music From Memory label heads Tako & Jamie Tiller.
