The Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society and PBS proudly present the 2014 Blues Challenge Band Catergory .
The final heats will be held at the Royal Standard Hotel 333 William Street West Melbourne on Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th October – 7.30 – 11.00pm.
The finals will be 5 – 10 pm Sunday 19th October at the Greyhound Hotel 1 Brighton Rd St Kilda, cnr Carlisle St.
The aim of the Blues Challenge is to find the best possible blues bands and artists to represent the MBAS and Australia in Memphis, Tennessee at the International Blues Challenge in January 2015. Not only will the winners be flown to Memphis for the competition and set up with accommodation, they’ll also be awarded with $1000 cash money!
Last year’s winner of the MBAS Blues Challenge was Rod Paines Fulltime Lovers. MBAS has had great success at the International Blues Challenge with Fiona Boyes, Geoff Achison, Collard Greens & Gravy and Jimi Hocking all taking out first place in different categories and Sweet Felicia and the Honeytones successfully progressed through to the Semi Final when they travelled to Memphis in 2011.
