Abbie Cardwell is living proof that following your gut instinct tells you what's right. From Mexico With Love is the end product of a sudden and unexpected urge that Abbie felt to fly to Mexico and record an album. Recorded with two bands, The Chicano Rockers from Melbourne and Twin Tones in Mexico, this project was bold from the start and Abbie has certainly found a new home for herself within this genre. It’s a big departure from her previous recordings which were very country flavoured, and the quality of this is an absolute credit to her range of skills (including learning Spanish!). The album has an authentic Tijuana brass feel to it that forces you to smile and start dancing and fits perfectly with the optimism that comes with the start of spring. From Mexico With Love is fantastic from start to finish, but my favourite songs are Arre Arre, Hey Lupe and El Toro. Definitely a space to watch to see what Ms Cardwell decides to do next. An outstanding album.
