The forthcoming album from Mojo Juju is collection of songs based around vice and consequence. They are songs about recklessness and regret, love and lust, infidelity, death, trains, cars and bad, bad hangovers. Stories inspired in equal parts by real life, hardboiled fiction and noir cinema.
Heavily doused in the romantic imagery of truck stops, diners, dive bars and cheap motels; this is a
soundtrack to living life on the road.
Mojo Juju sings songs that sound like that night you can't quite remember, in that bar you swear you weren't at, with that girl you promise you've never met. It's the blues, but not like the blues, it's nostalgic but completely foreign, it's a one-night stand with an old lover. Taking influence from (but never mimicking) the sounds of Jump, Hoodoo & Early blues, Pachuco Boogie, Rock ‘n’ Roll and a little bit of Bump & Grind, there is most definitely something dark, dirty and seductive lurking in these sounds.
Mojo Juju has arrived, with a new band, a new sound and a new set of threads. Like a phoenix rising from the ashtray, red hot, smokin' and hell-bent on setting this thing on fire, her DEBUT SOLO ALBUM will be out through ABC Music on Sept 14th.
