This week's PBS Feature Album is City of Gold from Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway.
On the release, Molly Tuttle shares a batch of spellbinding stories that span time and place: wildly colourful fables populated by gold miners and fortune tellers, true-to-life tales of love and loss and a fast-changing world, and a reimagining of Alice in Wonderland set in the backwoods of Kentucky, just to name a few.
Following her previous album - 2022’s Grammy Award winning Crooked Tree - the Northern California-raised musician’s fourth full-length album brings those narratives to a resplendent form of bluegrass rooted in her virtuosic guitar playing.
City of Gold of course features Tuttle (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jerry Douglas (dobro) and Golden Highway - Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle, harmony vocals), Dominick Leslie (mandolin), Shelby Means (bass, harmony vocals) and Kyle Tuttle (banjo, harmony vocals) – plus a guest appearance from Dave Matthews on ‘Yosemite’.
Tune in all this week to hear tracks from City of Gold, and PBS Members have the chance to win a copy of the album on CD - simply email your name and membership number to before midnight Thursday August 10.
