To celebrate the release of ‘Crowded World', the new single from Melbourne post-grunge band Moody Beaches, we would like to take you back in time to September 2018 when the then recently formed trio walked into PBS to set up for what turned out to be a very special Studio 5 Live session.
This session would be the very last one that long-time PBS announcer Erica Dunn hosted on her iconic show Mixing Up The Medicine (excluding the bands that played live on Erica’s farewell show for Drive Live in February 2019). The result was nothing short of outstanding. Moody Beaches unleashed their raw, dark sound with utmost urgency. They rocked the studio, delivered their songs with admirable honesty and shared with PBS listeners their turbulent response to a world that can often feel unsettling... and crowded!
The new single leans on Moody Beaches' towering riffs and anthemic vocals to articulate the frustration of helplessness when examining the contradictory feelings of apathy and concern from the weight of what modern society is facing. It is the first offering from the band’s forthcoming debut album out in early 2023 via Poison City Records / Beast Records (France), and the first new music from the band since 2020.
While we eagerly await more teasers from the new album, we revisit the trio’s 2018 Studio 5 session, which you can hear in its entirety on Homebrew on October 10 alongside a chat with Anna and Jessie from the band!
Studio 5 Live is made possible with the support of our good friends at Mountain Goat.
