The Pink Tiles have consistently brought their special brand of bubblegum pop to Melbourne since they began putting music out in 2013. In February 2017, on the eve of the release of their #1 Fan LP, the band performed an energetic and playful set on Richie 1250’s Stone Love as part of that year’s PBS Drive Live. We are thrilled to revisit this session on Radio City on Thursday February 3 as part of Crispi’s homage to Drive Live.
The Pink Tiles remember being a little nervous that day. They were honoured to be playing alongside critically acclaimed songwriter Laura Jean and raucous punk-rock shrimp-themed duo Shrimpwitch. Endearingly humble and understated, the band memebers recall that it was “terrifying to play such a legit home of music, and we were relieved when it was done. But was all in good fun.... it was fun!”
Crispi notes that the session shows The Pink Tiles as they always are, “in gloriously fun form!” He has high hopes for them to release new music, and so do we. In the meantime, we have their wonderful Drive Live session to listen back to.
Tune in to Radio City from 1pm on Thursday February 3 to hear the whole set.
