Port Fairy Folk Festival has added roots music heavyweights The Waifs, Kasey Chambers, Justin Townes Earle, The Dingoes, Shane Nicholson and Mama Kin to the ranks of its 35th annual festival, taking place from March 11 to 14, 2011. Early Bird tickets end on November 30th.
They join the international acts already announced for Port Fairy 2011: Irish songstress Mary Black, Texan rockabilly and country legend Rosie Flores, balladeer Luka Bloom, bluegrass virtuoso Tim O’Brien and his Two Oceans Trio, plus national headliners Dan Kelly's Dream Band, Lisa Miller, Graveyard Train, Darren Hanlon, Bob Evans, Jordie Lane, Liz Stringer, Frank Yamma, Shane Howard, Rosie Burgess Band, The Gin Club and The Little Stevies.
Other internationals include Galway's adopted son Christof, Scottish acoustic guitar virtuoso Tony McManus, Chilean folk innovators The Nano Stern Band, nu-folk/bluegrass band Crooked Still, plus Andy White, Martin Simpson, Breabach, The Cottars, Dark Horses, Les Chauffeurs à Pieds, Andy Irvine & Rens van der Zalm.
Also on the Port Fairy lineup – with many more to follow – are Akasa, The Barleyshakes, Barons Of Tang, Blue Shaddy, Bombay Royale, The Bostocks, David Bridie, The Bushwackers, Abbie Cardwell and Her Leading Men, Nick Charles, Brett Clarke, Joe Chindamo Band, Mic Conway's National Junk Band, Deborah Conway & Willy Zygier, Tiffany Eckhardt & Dave Steel, Ted Egan, Jane Germain & The Yahoos, Jim Haynes, Dick And Christa Hughes, The George Jackson Band, Valanga & Andrea Khoza, Madre Monte, Ali Mills, Mr Percival, Oka, Tom Richardson Project, Lloyd Spiegel, Danny Spooner, Tribute To Johnny Cash, Rick E Vengeance, Fotis Vergopoulos Band, Vika & Linda and Wheelers and Dealers plus an amazing team of Street Invaders, Fringe and Children's Folk Circus acts.
Contrary to popular belief, Port Fairy Folk Festival does not instantly sell out. In the past the festival had sold out too quickly, so the ticketing system has been changed so that Port Fairy punters don't miss out on this wonderful weekend. Early Bird tickets are only available until November 30, and the Festival may well sell out by Christmas, so be quick!
