For more than thirty years the Port Fairy Folk Music Festival has grown and celebrated folk, roots, blues and world music to become one of the staples of the Australian musical year.
This year's festival, the 39th installment, will present a line-up of more than 100 inspiring and wonderful acts in a unique program for all tastes and ages. The festival will transform the historic seaside village into a cultural park taking in twenty venues including The Arena, schools, halls, wharf, surf club and more. The festival is a community celebration of the culture of "people, words and music" – folk, roots and music from beyond and across the borders.
The new announcement is rich with Australian talent, including indie-folk duo Luluc; "Up there Cazaly's" Mike Brady; Indigenous Australia's worldwide phenomenon Frank Yamma; The Bearded Gypsy Band with their eclectic mix of Celtic, jazz, blues, roots & Gypsy tunes; Scottish expat in a 5 piece ensemble Fiona Ross; and last but far from least, Melbourne's high flying hobo-pop indie darlings Skipping Girl Vinegar. These acts will join previously announced highlights including Sinéad O'Connor, The Gloaming, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Richard Thompson, John Butler Trio, Charlie Musselwhite, Christine Anu, Frankie J Holden & Wilbur Wilde, Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas, Ami Williamson, Ash & Bloom, Sharon Shannon Band, The Heartstring Quartet, Jeff Lang, Lake Street Dive, Mark Seymour & The Undertow, The Black Sorrows, Steve Poltz and so much more it'll drop your jaw to the floor!
