The Boite is calling all culturally and linguistically diverse musicians/artists in Naarm
to apply for their professional development program; The Portfolio Project 2023!

Apply now via boite.com.au/portfolio2023

The Boite is pleased to announce the second iteration of The Portfolio Project;

a professional development program designed to empower and give creative and networking
opportunities, resources, skills and assets for emerging culturally diverse musicians in
Naarm/Melbourne. The Boite is committed to breaking down barriers for culturally and
linguistically marginalized communities and helping them enter the broader Australian music
ecosystem. This program is The Boîte's partnership with Music Victoria, Melbourne
Polytechnic to deliver mentorship and support the next wave of musicians to create their
electronic portfolios.

Culturally diverse solo artists/songwriters, duos and bands are invited to apply and will need
to be available between early March until July 2023.
We have 15 places available in this exciting program; whether you are applying as a solo
artist or a band with multiple members you will be considered as 1 participant. If you are
applying on behalf of your duo or group, at least one member must be of culturally diverse
background.

Applications are now open until 10 February 2023.

The program includes mentorship sessions, workshops in industry skills (marketing,
promotion, management) and will provide several performance opportunities. Each participant
will be paired up with an established music industry professional who will be their mentor.
Project coordinator, Ellen Chan says, “Last year we were able to assist 10 emerging CALD
artists in navigating the ropes of the music scene in Naarm, we aim to have 15 participants
this year. With the lessons learnt from the first iteration of the program in 2022 we are able to
develop the program to be more personalized to suit the artist's individual needs.”

This program is proudly supported by the City of Yarra, Australia Council for the Arts, Inner
North Foundation and Creative Victoria.
