Rainbow Serpent Festival's music has significantly evolved over the years. Staring out as a mainly psytrance focused festival over a decade ago, these days patrons can expect to submerge themselves in a melting pot of musicality over the long weekend.
With well over 100 producers, bands and DJ’s across a number of separate stages Rainbow showcases an eclectic mix of grooves, atmospheres and rhythms. Each year the festivals music program grows with a massive range of talented artists covering a multitude of genres.
From techy grooves, deep progressive stylings, to the phat wobble bass of glitch-hop and unique hybrid electronic manipulations, Rainbow spares no effort to bring you the very best of the best of international and Australian talent.
At the top of the list and causing a great deal of salivation in the ranks of Rainbowites is Bedrock man of the hour Guy J. Hailing from Israel this relative new comer to the spotlight has received rave reviews for his sensual, deeply hypnotic and textured productions. 2012 sees Guy kick off an exciting new project with his close colleagues and friends at Bedrock: his very own imprint “Lost & Found”, a sub-label for John Digweed’s long running mothership where he’ll release music by himself and his favourite producers.
Also proving popular is Spain’s Christian Smith, whose trademark blend of high impact tech house and musical techno will be a fantastic addition to the Rainbow line-up alongside the incredibly distinctive and talented Peter Van Hoesen. Label manager, producer, DJ and bandleader Oliver Koletzki will also join the likes of Mathew Dekay and Eelke Kleijn on the crisply fresh 2013 line-up. Psytrance fans also get a dose of fresh names with South African psy-legend Shift making his first appearance together with The Commercial Hippies, Deedrah, Ecliptic, Neuroplasm and Absolum. For those who prefer the old fashioned instruments to a laptop the likes of 8Foot Felix, Combat Wombat, Gang of Brothers, Kingfisha, Rivertribe and Spyndrift have been announced as headliners for the band stage.
When you combine this amazing list of fresh names with one of the mostly highly regarded music and lifestyle festivals in the world, it’s pretty obvious Rainbow Serpent 2013 will once again be an unmissable addition to your summer festival calendar.
