An all-star stellar cast has been assembled for Rock For Reclink which is to be held on Saturday 30th June at The Hi Fi to celebrate the Reclink Community Cup week, and features some of the best names on the scene. Performing on the evening at Rock For Reclink will be The Blackeyed Susans Trio, Dave Larkin Band, Davey Lane, Jess Ribeiro & The Bone Collectors, Kim Salmon, Leena, Matt Sonic & The High Times, and The Ronson Hangup. Tickets are $35 plus booking fee and available now via Moshtix.
The Reclink Community Cup is an entrenched institution on the music and events calendar for many Melbournians over the past 20 years. All artists have donated their time to perform at Rock For Reclink in support of Reclink Australia, and its mission to provide sport and arts activities to enhance the lives of people experiencing disadvantage in Australia. Names such as The Blackeyed Susans Trio (featuring Phil Kakulas, Rob Snarski and Kiernan Box) and Kim Salmon (The Scientists, Kim Salmon & The Surrealists, Beasts Of Bourbon etc) need little introduction having been responsible for creating some of the sounds that shaped Australia’s post-punk musical backbone over the past 30 plus years. And fronting two of Australia’s best bands over the past decade, nor do the names Davey Lane (lead guitarist from You Am I, The Pictures), and Dave Larkin (from Dallas Crane, The Gun Street Girls). Larkin has recently branched out doing shows with a bunch of his musical pals, whilst Davey Lane recently recorded an album with one of his idols Jim Keays, and is a regular session guitarist with the likes of Jimmy Barnes. Davey will be performing tracks off his debut solo album, which is set for release soon and is one of Australian’s leading guitar-slingers.
The Ronson Hangup evolved when members of Melbourne bands Even, The Anyones, The Pictures and Canon came together over a mutual admiration for Mick Ronson, the legendary guitarist from David Bowies’ Spiders From Mars. Expect riffs and damn good fashion.
Drawing comparisons to Karen Dalton, Cat Power, Neil Young and having toured with the likes of Steve Earle, Charlie Parr, the Waifs, and Darren Hanlon, Jess Ribeiro & The Bone Collectors will deliver a set laced with delicate intimate tones. Psych-rockers Matt Sonic & The High Times have performed at many festivals including Big Day Out, St Kilda Festival, Boogie and Meredith Music Festival, and are high-energy fun. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leena will also grace the stage on the evening with her heartfelt and rocking self-penned tunes.
Reclink Australia is honoured to have these artists take to The Hi Fi stage on Saturday 30th June to celebrate the 2012 Reclink Community Cup. Local line-ups don’t get much better than this folks! Tickets on sale now via Moshtix, don’t miss out!
