Joined by the brooding tropical rhythm of his backing band the Coconuts, crooner, violinist and member of the acclaimed European cabaret ensemble Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen, Rufino has come ashore in Melbourne for the launch of their new album. The group sailed in for a Studio 5 Live Session on Ports of Paradise Friday November 8.
Rufino and the Coconuts have brought their show-stopping performances to eager audiences since 2013, appearing at the Lorne Festival of the Arts, the 2015 Sydney Festival and 2018's Vivid Sydney. Their latest album, The Centroturist, combines classic surf music inspiration with bone-rattling jungle disco and 80's post-punk flair. These theatrical castaways are coming aboard ahead of their album launch show at the Spotted Mallard. on Saturday the 9th of November.
