Irish band The Strypes finally release their debut album after playing together for almost 5 years. Snapshot sees this 4-piece continue their passion for the sounds and energy of classic rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and early garage music. The references to some of the icons of British music (in particular) extend beyond the songwriting, with production duties handled by Chris Thomas who has previously worked with legendary bands including The Sex Pistols and even The Beatles.

Whether the tracks on Snapshot, and indeed the overall look and sound of the Strypes is slavish devotion to an era long-gone, or a reverential homage to music made decades before these Irish youngsters first popped in a pair of ear-buds is irrelevant. The bottom line is that Snapshot is a cracking record of wonderfully crafted rock and roll. Certainly one for long drives to the beach on hot summer days…
