Some jerks are a female-led garage/surf rock band from Brisbane, Inspired by the girl groups, and garage rock of the 60's, and once quoted as “sounding like Sleater-Kinney covering the Shangri-las”.
Formed in late 2010...they released the Some jerks EP in 2011 with mixing/ mastering by US legend Kramer, following up with their debut album Buddy Rich Made Me Cry in Nov 2012... both on Turkeyneck Records.
Both releases have received regular airplay on 4ZZZ, and 3PBS, with songs in the 4ZZZ Hot 100 (29 & 45), and "BRMMC" given album of the week on 3PBS.
2013 saw the band tour interstate on several occasions, and open for US rockers, The Bellrays, at the Hi-fi bar.
2014 saw the release of “Dark and Dead of Night/ Nancy”....a couple of songs about love, and digging graves. It’s a double A-side single, self- released on vinyl, and available only on Bandcamp.
“Dark and Dead of Night”reached No.12 in the 4zzz Hot 100. It was accompanied by a film clip for Dark and Dead of Night, Directed by Brisbane cult film maker, Andrew Leavold (of Lesbo-A-Go-Go and The Search for Weng Weng fame).
2015/16 saw the band support Coathangers (USA), New Christs, Hits, and Spencer P Jones, and also get back into the studio.
Some jerks have just released their second Album...Strange ways... with singles, "The Hunter", and "Man I Told You So"...being well received.
