Congratulations to Vince and Maddy for taking out prizes at the annual CBAA Awards announced in Adelaide on Saturday.
Over the weekend Australia’s community broadcasting sector got together in Adelaide for the annual CBAA Conference. This conference is an annual event that helps stations from around Australia share knowledge, develop ideas and discuss the issues that face our sector. Each year the CBAA (Community Broadcasting Association of Australia) also acknowledge excellence in our field. At this year’s CBAA Awards dinner two PBS announcers won awards for their outstanding work.
Vince Peach won the Excellence in Music Programming award, being acknowledged by his peers for 30 years of Soul Time on PBS. You can tune in to Soul Time every Wednesday between 3pm and 5pm.
Former PBS Breakfast Spread co-host Maddy Macfarlane also took home a CBAA Award as part of the National Audio Documentary and Features Competition, run by the Community Media Training Organisation. The documentary focused on the incredible work of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre’s music group and featured a Studio 5 Live performance from the group at PBS. The work was originally broadcast on Big Mob, on Monday September 22. Listen to it again below.
PBS was also a finalist in the category of ‘Contribution to Australian Music’ for our annual Young Elder of Jazz Commission.
