In August last year, Soul Messin’ Records released Soulgroove‘66, a limited-edition seven-inch single featuring Australian soul legend Renée Geyer re-working the song that introduced Pierre Baroni’s cult-radio program Soulgroove’66 every Saturday afternoon on PBS. Pierre produced the record and it would prove to be the final recording on which he worked before sadly passing away on March 9, 2021.
This limited-edition release celebrated his incredible contribution to his radio program, PBS, and the global soul community. The vinyl sold out in record time, with all of the $4,000 in proceeds now ready to hand over to PBS going towards buying equipment for our new studios at Collingwood Yards. We think Pierre would be happy to know that the proceeds from his music are contributing to PBS buying turntables and other audio equipment to keep the music playing on PBS.
PBS would like to thank Jake Mason, Chelsea Wilson, Soul Messin’, and everyone involved in making this very fitting tribute to Pierre, and for their generous donation of the proceeds to PBS.
If you missed out on the 45, you can still purchase a few remaining t-shirts (limited sizes) and digital copies here.
Also don’t forget to tune in to Boss Action this Saturday March 12 at 3pm to hear Jim Dandy paying tribute to Pierre Baroni on the 1st anniversary of Pierre’s passing.
Vale Pierre Baroni.
