In 2011, Bundoora Records released a compilation called Underbilly #1. It consisted of 25 tunes by local rockabilly bands. As someone who wasn't that familiar with the genre, particularly from a local perspective, this comp was extremely intriguing and it didn't disappoint! Since then, Bundoora have released several excellent albums from local bands but i've always hoped that Underbilly #2 was around the corner and now, 3 years later, it's arrived! It's another excellent, rockin' and fun release!! A few acts retun such as Hank's Jalopy Demons, Sin & Tonics and The Flatrackers who are all great but some of the new acts are really rocking as well. There's the Jerry Lee Lewis-esque piano rock of Ezra Lee, the heavier City Shaprs and the steel guitar boogie of Coral Lee & The Silver Scream. As an extra incentive there's also a previously unrleased tune by Melbourne favourites The Rechords with their cover of Johnny Rebb's Hey Sherriff. If you're not that familiar with local rockabilly, Underbilly #2 and it's predecessor are a great place to start!
