After a successful pilot in 2009, Multicultural Arts Victoria’s Visible Sessions presented in partnership with the Arts Centre, return this year for a breezy summer season of FREE live music and jam sessions with flavours from all around the world.
Every Friday and Saturday 4.30 – 7pm from 26 November to 11 December, a special outdoor stage at the Arts Centre’s Curve Bar will come alive with a fresh mix of local MC’s, vocalists, bands and programmers as they fuse styles and create new Aussie sounds in the heart of Melbourne.
This year’s program will see some exciting and unexpected new collaborations including:

From the soulful sounds of the Indian bansuri and Japanese shamisen to Bollywood inspired slammin' surf, disco and funk tunes.

Turkish fuelled reggae funk mayhem meets the unfettered sounds of the Balkans.

feat Lotek & Rebel HiFi and Massive Choir
From Reggae Sound System culture to hip hop sung from the heart and straight from the streets of Melbourne

feat Madre Monte and Son Corners
Mystical Columbian Cumbia fuses with feel good reggae vibes and dance floor rhythms.
Fri 10 Dec Experimenta Transethnic

An improvised transethnic music experience fusing electronica and live processing with the mystical sounds of the ancient East.

A musical gathering inspired by the spirit of reconciliation - stories and songs from Indigenous, African and Oceanic Australia.
The Visible Sessions has evolved through MAV's work with the Arts Centre on the Mix It Up! initiative and through MAV's Visible music mentorship project which for the past five years has given a kick start to an incredible range of musical talents from all around the globe and seen some of the most exciting and innovative new world music acts to emerge in recent years.
The Visible Sessions provides a unique 'small stage' performance and creative development space for emerging and established world artists to combine and unleash their extraordinary talents.
