The COVID-19 pandemic has created intense financial hardship for artists, crew and music workers across all genres. Many jobs in the music and entertainment sector have disappeared and it is unclear when the sector will fully recover.
With funding support from the Australian Government through the Office for the Arts, Support Act has expanded its services to offer Crisis Relief to music industry professionals impacted by COVID-19.
These will include our “MusicKeeper” and “CrewKeeper” Crisis Relief Cash Grants, which are designed to help cushion the blow occasioned by the end of Jobkeeper payments.
To be eligibe for a Crisis Relief Grant, you must:
- be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or have a valid working visa
- prove that you have been working in the Australian music industry for three years
- provide names and details of two professional referees; and
- have household expenses which are greater than your household income.
Support Act provide financial support in the areas of rent/mortgage, food, utilities, medical equipment and other expenses. They also provide counselling 24/7 via the Support Act Wellbeing Helpline and support specifically for First Nations individuals via the First Nations Support service.
