Songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Nick Batterham is a prolific artist who has released numerous solo and collaborative albums since the 1990s and whose voice has been described by Rolling Stone as ‘an almost other-worldly instrument of beauty.’ In 2021, he dropped his sixth solo album Lovebirds via Cheersquad Records & Tapes. The record is a lavish feast of orchestral pop that explores the full gamut of human emotions, and which will finally enjoy the launch that it deserves on June 3 at Melbourne Recital Centre.
Ahead of the launch, and as part of our next Studio 5 presentation, we bring you a special live set that Nick recorded last year for Channel 31’s live music program MUUZOstream. Part melancholic and part healing, this session is an elegant demonstration of some of Nick’s finest songwriting and a warm invitation into the way that he crafts sparkling melodies.
