This week's PBS Feature Album is Barney McAll's Precious Energy ReUp. This new 12-track remix album gets a fresh twist after receiving critical acclaim and nominations for an ARIA award and the Australian Music Prize, as well as winning a Music Victoria Award.
The album features contributions from a diverse group of artists, including luminaries Steve Spacek, Sampology, and Toshio Matsuura, as well as Setwun, Surana, Mike Gurrieri, Moses Carr, Kuzich, Dan West, Audible Artefacts, The Lords Garden, and Pat Telfer. These remixes offer completely new approaches to the songs on Precious Energy, with Steve Spacek even creating his remix solely on his iPhone.
The remixes are a diverse blend of dance floor bangers and tripped-out, surreal renderings. Barney McAll said of the re-workings, "whatever glass darkly these producers are looking through, whatever curious cults they are in, these tracks are a dead giveaway. These artists have all created such distinct and imaginative tracks and I’m excited to present what is my first dance album.”
