Longtime PBS announcer, Crispi, is excited to celebrate:
"On December 21st, 2024, PBS celebrates its 45th anniversary! Even though I’ve only been directly involved since 2008 when my first radio shows were filling in for Lyndelle & Todd for 2 weeks on The Breakfast Spread, I’ve also been an avid listener to the station for a lot longer than that and I can say that 45 years is some sort of achievement!
"From its early days, broadcasting out of the Prince Of Wales in St. Kilda, which began on December 21st 1979, through to its current location in Collingwood Yards, PBS has always been regarded as a leading supporter of Australian music that isn’t heard on commercial radio stations.
"Being a specialist music station, it has covered a massive range of genres over its 45 years, presented by music lovers with massive music collections. This has led to PBS bringing presenters, musicians, music venues and listeners together to form this wonderfully broad music community. It is also a leader in diverse voices via the on-air and off-air volunteers who play such a major part in contributing to making PBS the station that it is today.
"On December 21st, to celebrate its 45th anniversary, PBS will be holding a birthday party at the Quadrophonic Club in Brunswick. This is the perfect venue as there are two separate rooms featuring state of the art quadraphonic sound which is perfect for listening to great music in a great environment. Each room will feature past and present PBS DJs getting in the spirit of turning 45 by playing all 45s in 45 minute sets!! Being vinyl lovers, these DJs will be sharing their collections with you for this special occasion. There will also be free party food! "This is sure going to be a fun event so come along and help PBS celebrate its 45th birthday on Saturday, December 21st!"

We recognise and celebrate their connection to songlines and Country, ceremony and story, and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
