From the very start, PBS 106.7FM has led the way for all Melburnians to experience live music with broadcasts from the back of the Prince of Wales in St Kilda over 30 years ago.

That strong live music tradition continues with PBS Studio 5 Live, weekly live performance broadcasts from the PBS studios. The vibe is grassroots, with an unwavering commitment to quality and diversity.

Last week, we we're thrilled to have Spanish rock'n'roll group Los Coronas in to perform live in Studio 5. Independently seeping into the ears of r’n’r lovers, 50s and 60s instrumental fans, filmmakers and tastemakers, Los Coronas have forged a name for themselves with their distinctive blend of surf-tinged atmospheric twang and their own Spanish musical heritage.

Los Coronas are widely recognized as Spain’s best instrumental surf band. Their sound is a mix of Spanish melodies, raw r’n’r intensity and their own version of the 60s Californian surf sound, blended with a heavy dose of Spaghetti Western echoes.

Formed in Madrid in 1991, they have since released four albums, two compilations, and toured Spain, Europe and Mexico several times. Los Coronas music is featured in Spanish films like “Airbag” and “Abre Los Ojos”, as well as in several TV commercials.
