Ever since my then Breakfast Show co-host Jenny O'Keefe, awarded Sweet Jean's Shiver & Shake her single of 2011, they've been on my radar, looking out for gigs and recordings, at any time that they've popped up. The sweet harmonies of Sime Nugent and Alice Keith on that single warmed my heart the moment I heard it. For the past year and a half, when I've interviewed them, my first questions has always been, "When is the album coming out, When is the album coming out???" with all the excitement I can muster.
Finally it is here! I have to say that they haven't disappointed. From the hypnotic piano riff of Hello Concrete to the wonderfully serene and beautiful Parachutes and the gentle, former b-side Angels Come Get You, Sweet Jean have continued the tradition of brilliant local albums for 2013. Dear Departure is an album you must check out!!!
