Northern Exposure is a street based arts festival presented by the Northcote Business Association. Local businesses and artists join forces on High Street Northcote leaving a playful trail of discovery for the attentive observer.

Northern Exposure 2013 includes:
1. High Views: site specific art installed in shop windows, including sculptural and photographic works, paintings, illustrations, assemblages, installations, projections and more.
2. High Events: art related workshops, tours and events hosted on the evening of the launch and throughout the two-week duration of the exhibition.
3. Small Works, Small -Spaces: of either permanent or ephemeral artworks installed along the street in odd spots and out of the way places, including paste ups, miniature dioramas, installations and more.

Special Event : Just People: Chalice Films for Change. A Film Festival presented by Northcote Uniting Church Chalice and Transitions Film Festival. A program of inspiring films and documentaries around the themes of Sustainability, Justice and Contemporary Spirituality. July 13 – 27.

Their aim is to create a more inclusive exhibition that brings art out onto the street and into the unexpected. Their hope is to illustrate and illuminate the suburb with art for this two-week period. There are over eighty artists involved and over fifty local businesses participating. Visitors can explore art displayed in windows and hidden in nooks and crannies, that will surprise, provoke and delight.

The Theme for Northern Exposure 2013 is: Change. With a view to inspiring change in the community or the world at large – tackling issues such as equality, social justice, human rights, marriage equality, environmental change, sustainability, evolution, transformation. Works will convey a message of hope and positivity, a vision for the future and foster a connection with neighbours.

Exciting prizes will be awarded for the best art works in each category, by an esteemed panel of judges including Oscar Award Winning animator Adam Elliot, Illustrators Australia Andrea Innocent and Arts Manager of Darebin Council Vanessa Pigrum.
